Gorropu Gorge

the “Grand Canyon” of Europe

One of the most iconic trails starts from the Genna Silana plateau and leads to the Gorropu Gorge, one of the deepest gorges in Europe. Here, among limestone walls over 400 meters high, you can walk immersed in a primordial landscape, populated by golden eagles, mouflons, and rare endemic species. It's an ideal excursion for those seeking an intense yet accessible experience, with itineraries of varying difficulty.

Sa Giuntura

Located in the Urzulei area, it is a natural site of extraordinary beauty and charm. Its name means "the junction" and derives from the point where two major rivers, the Riu Flumineddu and the Riu Orbisi, meet, forming a spectacular canyon nestled between high limestone walls.

Nestled in the heart of the Supramonte mountains, Sa Giuntura can only be reached on foot via hiking trails. The wild environment, crystal-clear water, and tranquility of nature make this place one of Sardinia's most evocative natural gems.

In addition to its scenic value, Sa Giuntura is also an important place from a geological and naturalistic point of view, testifying to the shaping force of water on the karst landscape of the Supramonte.

Supramonte Trails,

forests, nuraghi and panoramas

Urzulei is also an ideal starting point for exploring the Supramonte trails, a network of ancient mule tracks and pastoral paths connecting sheepfolds, springs, sinkholes, and Nuragic sites. Walking through forests of ancient holm oaks and juniper trees, you can reach evocative places like Campu Oddeu, Sa Sedda 'e sos Carros, and Tiscali, the mysterious Nuragic village built inside a sinkhole.
